From remote control to agentic support.
The legacy iDesta.com website presents iDesta Remote Control: configurable mobile forms, replacing paper and double entry, back-office integration, attendance and delivery records, and billing handoffs. Its managed-service description connects a data centre with a mobile communications gateway. This site develops a new proposition for mobile workforce automation: an agent supports a defined task, with authorised context, scoped tools and a clear human owner.
Legacy remote-control software and proposed agentic workflows are different capabilities. The new architecture requires its own integration, access controls, device testing and operational evaluation. The legacy site is preserved.
A maintenance mission, made concrete.
Before the visit: prepare the approved job brief, equipment identity, relevant instructions and escalation contact. An agent can draft a checklist from authorised material; the responsible person checks it.
At the site: make the right information available. Capture a non-sensitive progress note and mark anything uncertain. Safety-critical diagnosis and physical work remain with competent people.
After the work: draft a completion report, identify missing evidence and route it for review. Only approved, authenticated integrations may write the confirmed result to a business system.
The workflow is illustrative. No field device, work-order system, model or location service is connected through this website.
Connectivity is part of the workflow.
Map the full path from device to application. Assess site coverage, identity, transport protection and a recovery route. Connected mode does not guarantee every dependency is available.
Offline behaviour must be deliberately configured. Decide which approved material may be stored locally, how the device is protected, which drafts can be queued, how conflicts are resolved and what must wait for reconnection. Do not represent cloud tools as available without a connection.
Inference follows the data boundary.
Compare model quality, context, device resources, concurrency and operating cost. Evaluate local, private and approved external routes using representative work rather than a generic promise of intelligence.
Restricted information remains within its approved environment. Any external processing requires a specific data policy decision, including provider terms, retention, logs and processing location. Retrieved material does not grant tool permissions.
People remain accountable for actions.
Separate read access from drafting and writing. Use least-privilege credentials, explicit approvals and an audit trail appropriate to the system. Escalate uncertainty and exceptions to the right person.
Agree the human owner for safety decisions, changes to records, purchases, permissions and customer commitments. A confident model response is not approval to act.
Measure a useful outcome.
Work
Completion time, waiting, duplicate entry and exceptions.
Quality
Correctness, missing evidence, corrections and rework.
Reliability
Loss of connection, synchronisation conflicts and recovery.
Control
Approval coverage, access scope and inappropriate actions blocked.
Set a baseline before the pilot and compare the same task afterwards. Wider deployment follows reviewed evidence, not a promised percentage saving.
Scope your first pilot.
Identify one team, one workflow, approved information and the systems that need connecting. Include the difficult case and the safe stop. Service scope, capacity, integrations, price and deployment terms are confirmed after review.
